Personal Trainer - Your Team

There are more personal trainers on the web than people are possibly looking for. How do you pick the right one? You don’t pick one.

Choose a team. We talked about a family doctor on the home page. See your doctor at least once a year and keep the same doctor. Don’t keep secrets from your Doctor. He or she can be your biggest ally for overall Health and Wellness.

A physiotherapist should be the second member of your team. A physiotherapist is trained to understand every joint and muscle in your body. As you would your doctor get comfortable with the same physio (not more than 2 anyway). See your physio when you have pain. They can pinpoint issues. For example, as a cyclist, I recognize that knee pain will be recurring unless something is done to fix the source of the problem. A discussion with your physio about cycling knee pain will benefit you a lot more than just a complaint about general knee pain.

Get your physiotherapist to recommend a good massage therapist. Massage therapy is much more than pampering. A trained therapist can work wonders to loosen and heal tight and knotted muscles. My years of lower back pain were resolved ultimately by my physiotherapist recommendation to get massage treatment.

The rest is up to you! You know what you are eating. You are enjoying exercise. Your team can keep score on how you are doing!
